Children's stone carving sessions

We run two hour have-a-go stone carving sessions for children every Tuesday during the main school holidays.

These sessions are suitable for children between 6*-13 years and are £12.50 per child. We teach children basic stone carving tool techniques and they can create their own masterpiece to take away. They can attend just one session or return weekly to work on a larger project, progressing from basic relief carvings to creating 3D sculpture.

Booking is essential for all our courses. It is not necessary for parents/carers to stay on site during these sessions. We include basic refreshments during the course – squash and biscuits. Children must wear old clothes and suitable footwear (no sandals).

Family stone carving sessions

We run these sessions every Thursday during the main school holidays and on Saturdays throughout the year. These are suitable for 6 – 80+ years and are £20 per adult and £12.50 per child.

Booking is essential for all our courses. If your group size is 4 or more people, we can also arrange sessions at times that suit your holiday plans, subject to tutor availability.

Children's birthday partys at Burngate

Want to do something different for a birthday party? We offer art, craft and stone carving parties at Burngate for groups up to 12 people.

Example party ideas include –

Art parties are usually 1 and a half hour activities and stone carving is 2 hours. Our art parties are suitable from 5 years (max group size 12) and Stone Carving from 6 years (max group size 10). They can be arranged on any day or evening subject to tutor availability. The Centre has a kitchen area which can be used for your own birthday tea and you are welcome to bring party food and decorate the area.
