Banker Session

What will I achieve?

This is not a course. You are hiring a Banker (workstation) for the day to work on your own piece without instruction.

You’ll work at your own pace, alongside other people who share your interest in carving. 

Do I need any particular skills?

You are hiring a Banker (workstation) for the day to work on your own piece.

You must have previously completed one of our introductory courses (Have a Go Stone-Carving, or Introduction to Stone-Carving) and be confident enough to work without instruction. 

What experience will I have?

This is a practical, hands-on experience of your own making, within a supportive environment. It’s great fun with a rewarding conclusion as you get to take your own carving away with you. You will be working in one of our purpose-built on-site workshops.

Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to prepare in advance or bring?

You’ll need to come along with your own design to work from.

Safety equipment (goggles and apron) are available. Please wear old clothes and stout shoes which cover your toes and protect your feet.

The course fee includes complimentary teas and coffees.

Stone pieces are available to purchase.

Toolsets are available to purchase, or tools availalble for hire for on-site use only.

To ensure that all stone-carvers and visitors to Burngate are treated respectfully, we have a Stone-Carvers Code of Conduct that you will be asked to sign, before you can commence carving here.
