ARTIST’S TALKS
Artist’s Talk: Peter Randall-Page
Try something new this year
Whether you’re just visiting, know Purbeck well or whether you’re a complete beginner or looking to improve your existing skills, our varied programme of courses and related activities includes something for everyone. We offer a variety of short courses ranging from two hour sessions to one week long catering for all levels of experience, from complete beginners to those with more advanced skills. We teach children, families and adults at the Centre and, from eight years old, you can try your hand at carving.
For the first time this summer, we have an expanded range of courses that include drawing, creative writing and geology- each of which take the unique landscape and geology of Purbeck as their inspiration. Most of our courses take place in our dedicated workshops, but some will venture out into the local landscape to explore medieval quarry workings within protected woodland and windswept eighteenth-century cliff quarries; to walk amongst dinosaur footprints and peer at microfossils; and to take a look inside active quarries and within Purbeck’s contemporary commercial stonemasonry workshops.
We offer courses all year, whatever the weather. If you are unable to attend a scheduled course date but would still like to try some stone carving, please contact the Centre to arrange some one-to-one tuition (subject to tutor availability).

You can purchase Burngate gift vouchers and redeem them against any scheduled courses. Available for the amount of your choice, these are the perfect gift for the budding sculptor in your life.
