Support Us

The Burngate Purbeck Stone Centre is an independent non-profit charity. We currently receive no funding from the government or any local authority, and rely on income from running courses to survive. Donations from our supporters this year will help us to continue our mission of championing Purbeck stone: past, present and future. We hope you will consider supporting us.

Volunteers and Trustees

Burngate is a small charity that relies on Trustees and Volunteers who can help us achieve our mission to ‘Advance the Education of the art of stone masonry, stone carving, sculpture and the stone working heritage and history of Purbeck.’ It’s also a great way to get involved with the local community and meet new people, learn new skills and be in a creative space with people who are passionate about the area and stone.

We’re looking for trustees and volunteers who have both time and skills that they would be happy to share in order to help us take Burngate forward. If you have a few hours to spare why not join us?

You can Volunteer for a wide variety of roles

Day to Day.
To help with meet and greet, engaging and welcoming visitors to the centre as well as taking money from shop sales, merchandising of the shop and gallery areas and the inevitable dusting and cleaning of the public areas. To help us open 7 days a week. To make teas and coffees for students and visitors as well.

Events.
To help organise, plan and promote an annual diary of Burngate events.

Schools.
To seek opportunities to incorporate the history of Purbeck stone, stone carving and stonemasonry into education at local schools and finding potential sources of joint funding.
