Cancellations by us

Our courses all have minimum attendance levels, in rare cases where we do not receive enough uptake to run the course it will be duly cancelled or postponed.

Covid

In response to the Covid-19 pandemic and the latest guidance we have put in place a number of changes to ensure a safe, healthy and welcoming environment.

Our teaching spaces have been risk assessed and suitable measures put in place where required. Workshop and studio spaces are subject to a thorough clean in-between courses and shared tools cleaned and sanitised. We ask that all students wash their hands regularly, and use the hand sanitising stations when entering and leaving common areas. Please bring your own facemask.

Parking

Free parking is available in our own car park at the rear of the Burngate site.

Wheelchair facilities and Mobility

Please contact us if you have mobility issues, many of our courses and workshops are practical and physical in nature. Workshops and toilet are however on the flat with wide access.

Age restrictions

Adult Courses are available to anyone over the age of sixteen years unless otherwise stated. The minimum age for the Family Have a Go course is eight years. We may be able to accommodate a younger child within a family group by agreement – please ask. All children must be accompanied by a parent or responsible adult who remains on site.

Protective clothing and good workshop practice

Protective googles and aprons will be provided but it is the responsibility of students to wear suitable clothes and footwear for the working environment. At the tutor’s discretion, some summer workshops can be held outside if the weather is suitable: please consider hats and sun cream etc.

Students are expected to clean and leave equipment and work surfaces in good order, this is not the role of the tutor.

Food and drink

It is not always appropriate for such items to be consumed in the studio; this is at the discretion of the tutor. There are areas both outside and under cover available for the consumption of food and drink.

No alcoholic drinks are to be consumed on the premises. Smoking is only permitted in the designated area.

Health & Safety

We take safety very seriously, and a briefing on Health & Safety forms part of every workshop. Burngate Stone Carving Centre holds a risk assessment policy for staff and students which is in line with the current Health and Safety Executive recommendations.
